Ed Peekeekoot is a highly skilled finger-style guitar player with a great ability to entertain audiences. A singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Peekeekoot goes from foot-stomping fiddle to virtuoso classical guitar, sprinkled throughout with his Cree humour and philosophy. Playing the fiddle, banjo, traditional Native flute and drums, he takes audiences on a wildly varied musical journey in styles ranging from country to folk to jazz. Peekeekoot utilizes music as contemporary expressions of the mainstream world, blended with his Cree heritage.
Ed Peekeekoot has twice been nominated for the British Columbia Country Music Instrumentalist of the Year Award. His In the Key of Cree CD was nominated for Best Country CD at the 2008 Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards, where he performed on a live broadcast on Aboriginal Peoples Television Network.
