Whether at the International Leonard Cohen Festival in Berlin, the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, or at her hometown Edmonton Folk Music Festival, Ann Vriend mesmerizes audiences around the world. Vriend blends originality and quirkiness with catchy melodic pop/folk sounds. She has had hits on mainstream radio, been commissioned to write songs for organizations such as the 2006 Commonwealth Games, and has sold 10,000 records independently.
In addition to Vriend on piano and vocals, Thom Bennett will be on drums, and James Forrest will be on upright/electric bass. Matt Epp will be opening for Vriend and will provide backup vocals during the feature performance. At this CD release concert, Vriend will unveil Closer Encounters - a live album of material recorded at various concerts and studios around the globe.
